Hey all,
It's been an adventure, after waiting an extra hour to take off, they finally swapped airplanes, then we were held up waiting for "catering" that they had failed to put on the plane. Got to SanDiego, nice an warm by the way, waited for the shuttle the USO called, then the guy dropped me off outside the base. Had to hoof it to the central billeting, when they told me the building I was in was about 2/3 the way back to the gate, I asked for ride. I finally got into the room around 10:15 PST. While I did sleep at both the airport and most of the flight out here, I still sleep well all night long.
Today was death by power point, and a few appointments. There was a snafu with optometry (they didn't have my medical record there and I had my 2004 glasses on) they wanted to order the ballistic eyewear, but in the old prescription. I'm also getting a new navy pair (sorry Michele, but they did have more selections to choose from) they are a real bold little set of spectacle. Don't know how much I'll wear them since I have plenty of contacts to last. It was a long day, from 0730 to 1630, but with a lot of walking thrown in there.
Tomorrow starts the medical process. The Chief that is running it is trying to hold out the promise of having a day or two off at the end of the week. Which could be real nice. Although I have to say that I am still sore from shoveling all the snow and the moving of furniture.
No one here (on staff) seems to know anything about Honduras or what I will be doing. But of the 50 people here, around 45 of them are going to Iraq, so I guess I am grateful. I still think that I will be flying to Georgia on Sat, I don't want to spend too much time twidling my thumbs at Ft. Benning.
